Fiscal Presence
According to the report on the Analysis of Internal Revenue Collection of December 2007, issued by the Brazilian Internal Revenue, the Fiscal Presence in 2007 was increased mainly due to the creation of the Brazilian Internal Revenue (RFB), which created a synergy and greater efficiency in Brazilian tax administration, with highlight on the following results in the 2007 fiscal year: (a) growth of 80% in the number of individual and legal entities inspected and of 42% in the tax credit entered;
(b) increase of 21% in the apprehension of goods and 50% in tax lawsuits related to the area of customs;
(c) growth of 30.7% in the collection from fines and interests;
(d) growth of 46% in the collection pertaining to judicial and administrative deposits;
(e) greater integration of labor procedures of the Internal Revenue and National Treasury Attorney's Office.
